MarginNest Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 4, 2026
Scope
This policy explains how MarginNest handles information when you use the iPhone app to track books, page progress, reading notes, and reading preferences.
Information You Add
MarginNest lets you save book titles, authors, total pages, current pages, shelf status, margin notes, and a monthly reading goal. This reading content is stored on your device.
Local Storage
Books, notes, progress, and preferences are saved locally on your device. The app also stores local settings needed to keep the app running reliably. If you choose to copy a JSON backup, that backup is created only after you tap the backup action.
Network And Basic App Operation
MarginNest may connect to our service to support app operation, basic statistics, issue diagnosis, and security maintenance. This may process a device identifier, app version, device type, system version, request time, and similar technical information. Your book records and notes are not uploaded by the reading log.
Third-Party Services
MarginNest does not use advertising networks and is not used for cross-app advertising tracking. The app does not provide account sign-in, cloud sync, marketing push messages, or third-party sharing features.
How Information Is Used
Local reading data is used to show your desk, library, notes, reading progress, and preferences. Technical app-operation information is used to keep the app available, troubleshoot issues, and maintain basic security.
Sharing
We do not sell your reading records. We do not share your book list or notes with advertisers. A backup is shared only if you choose to copy it and then paste or send it somewhere yourself.
Retention
Reading records remain on your device until you edit, delete, reset, or remove the app. A copied backup remains wherever you choose to place it after copying.
Your Choices And Rights
You can edit or delete books and notes in the app. You can reset the starter library from Settings. You can also remove the app from your device to delete app-local data managed by iOS.
Children's Privacy
MarginNest is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data Security
MarginNest uses local device storage for reading records and relies on iOS protections for app data. No method of storage or transmission is perfect, but the app is designed to minimize reading data exposure by keeping records local.
Policy Changes
We may update this policy when app behavior or legal requirements change. The updated date at the top of this page will reflect the latest version.
